I Wrote An Article! Or Marketing 101
Did you know that part of becoming a successful writer is learning about marketing? It's true - just figuring out how to write a decent story isn't nearly enough. You need to learn how to market yourself and explore the concepts of branding and promotion and all kinds of stuff you would not necessarily associate with the creative side of story telling.
Sad but true.
So, I have written a new article which was just "printed" in one of my writing groups e-newsletter yesterday. It may show up in another newsletter, one that can be accessed by anyone, not just members of the national organization I am a member of. If it happens, I'll let you know.
Of course, neither of these are paying gigs. That's another thing about marketing yourself - often until you have made a name, you're not a name enough to get paid. But, hey, I don't intend to make my career out of writing articles. I'll leave that to those more detailed and focused, those who often have actual degrees in journalism or creative writing.
I'll probably download my simple little article onto my website soon. Someone might find it mildly interesting. t least I had fun doing it!
Oh, and it's now officially my birthday but I'll napalm anyone who asks my age.
